Our Story

Tecabeja Ranch is in the Eastern Pecos River Valley located an hour from Santa Fe on Tecolote Creek. The ranch sits at an elevation of 6,000 feet with an abundance of high desert cactus and wildflowers along with juniper and pinyon trees as pollen sources. The primary nectar that makes the honey so light and unique is the Tree (Cane) Cholla Cactus Flower which provides the sweet, slightly tangy flavor with subtle floral and spicey notes. Tecabeja Ranch Honey is 100% raw, organic, local honey. Enjoy!

What makes our honey so special
Located in New Mexico's high desert, Tecabeja Ranch sits along Tecolote Creek in the Eastern Pecos River Valley about an hour from Santa Fe. Unique among local honey producers, Tecabeja's primary nectar sources are Melilotus Sweet Clover and Apache Plume wildflowers the bees find along Tecolote Creek as well as Cane Cholla cactus flowers as a secondary nectar and pollen source. Combined with Juniper and Piñon as the primary tree pollen sources, our bees produce a truly distinctive sweet, slightly tangy flavored honey with hints of floral and a kick of spice at the end. Tecabeja Ranch Honey is always 100% raw, organic, and is totally local.
We are often asked why we named the ranch Tecabaja. Abeja means "bee" in Spanish, and since our bees forage along Tecolote Creek, we combined the two: Tecabeja. Enjoy!
